2020-2021 application process 

The applicant’s first task is to complete the online application form and submit the non-refundable application fee of 400,000 KRW or $350 USD to one of the bank accounts below:

Please use applicant's name as sender for wire transfer. The wire transfer fee should be paid by the sender and the amount should be net of all bank charges. There will be no bank charges if parents use Shinhan Bank

Once Chadwick International receives the application form, an automatic confirmation email with checklist will be sent to the parents. Parents can track the application progress through their online application account.

• Copies of Title Page of Parent(s) and Applicant's Passports
• Family Relationship Certificate (for Koreans) or Alien registration card copy (for foreigners)
• Foreign Passport Holder Forms (For foreigners)
• Report Cards/Transcript: The online application requires parents to request the current school to release an official transcript that includes all report cards for the past two years prior to application for Kindergarten-11 as well as the first semester of the current year. Please click on the link within the application and complete the release of school records document; the document will be sent directly to your school.  Copies of report cards in languages other than English must be translated into English and notarized prior to being uploaded to your online account. 
• Teacher Reference Form (K - Grade1)/Recommendation Letters (Grade 2 and up): Teacher reference forms/recommendation letters can be found within the checklist in applicants' account.  The Reference Form/Recommendation Letter will be sent directly to the teacher you designate. 
• Students Questionnaire (Grade 2 and up)
• Standardized Test Result (For overseas applicants)

Note: All documents submitted to Chadwick International will be considered the property of the school and will not be returned.

Assessments and Interviews

Upon receipt of a student's completed application, parents or guardians will be contacted via email with a scheduled appointment for necessary assessments and interviews.

Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 2

As part of the readiness assessment, each child will attend a group observation session which will collect information regarding developmental readiness in the areas of: social relations, emerging literacy and numeracy skills, as well as overall physical development.

Grades 3 - 11

Applicants to Grades 3-11 will complete a set of admission assessments designed to evaluate their proficiency in reading comprehension, language usage, Mathematics, and English written skills. If an applicant has recent standardized test scores he/she may include those results in the application package.

Overseas applicants

For students currently studying overseas, along with the completed application form and supporting documents, standardized tests (ISEE, SSAT or MAP) will be required. After scores have been submitted to Chadwick International, the Admissions Office will schedule Skype interviews with students and parents.

Once the Admissions Office has received the online application form, application fee, all the required supplemental documents, and the assessment has been done, an Admissions Committee's decision will be made after a careful analysis of each applicant's file. The final decision may indicate:

• ACCEPTANCE: If your child is accepted, you will receive a formal Letter of Acceptance along with an online enrollment contract. Each year, a few students are accepted conditionally. The expectations of students conditionally admitted are clearly delineated in the acceptance letter.

• REGRET: Each year, some students are denied admission based on their academic and/or behavioral record, if their English language proficiency does not meet the requirements of the grade to which they are applying, or if CI lacks a program to meet their individual needs. Denied candidates may reapply for the following school year once the reason for the denial has been addressed.

• WAIT POOL: A candidate is placed on a wait pool list when he or she is eligible for admission, but there is currently no space in the grade for which he or she is applying. Every effort will be made to indicate the candidate’s current status on the wait pool list so that the family can plan accordingly.

Once the enrollment is finalized, students interested in applying for the following year must submit an updated application with the most current documentation. It is important to note that if your child is wait listed, you should explore other educational alternatives while awaiting a decision from CI.

PRIORITY SYSTEM: Based on the school’s mission, CI views qualified applicants holistically when offering places. Qualified students from expatriate families will be considered priority for admissions. The Admissions Office also takes into account the profile of each grade, and enrolls students so that diversity and balance within the school is maintained. In addition, and within the constraints of our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program, learning support and class size limitations, CI also takes into account (in no particular order):

• Children of CI faculty and staff
• Ethnically non-Korean children who are academically proficient in the English language
• Siblings of students already enrolled in the school

After receiving the acceptance letter from CI Admissions, the following steps must be completed to proceed with the student’s enrollment process.
