Friday, February 5, 2021 NEWSLETTER Our Mission: Develop Global Citizens with Keen Minds, Exemplary Character, Self-Knowledge, and the Ability to Lead
Dear Upper School Students and Parents,
Thank you to all of you who were able to join us this afternoon for our Upper School Information meeting. We shared some important updates regarding events for the remainder of the year and arrangements for next year. As usual, we share the minutes from the meeting as well as a recording of all the presentations and slides.
As we move into next week, please see the schedule for the upcoming week below. It is our intention to share the learning schedule for the week after the Lunar New Year break on Tuesday, February 9.
Finally, please let me wish you all a joyous time with your family during the Lunar New Year holiday. Stay safe and happy.
Warm regards,
Grade 10 Transition to Grade 11-12 There is information available to support the Grade 10 to 11 transition on the Parent Event Website that was shared at today's Parent Information Meeting. Please scroll down to find the button for "US G11-12 Pathways," as pictured below, to access videos and documents about the three pathways and subject choices.
Mr. Kent (DP Coordinator)
It is so nice to see students on campus again. Hopefully, we will be able to have more students here more often going forward. Please keep safety protocols in mind when you are moving around the school.
I am concerned about lunch time behaviors in certain grades. Seats have been assigned so that you would be spread out while eating. No one should be sitting beside you or directly across from you. I am seeing some students sitting in close groups with friends. It is not safe to sit that close when you are not wearing a mask. Please space yourselves out carefully so that we are maintaining safe physical distance.
Ms. Adisa (Dean of Students)
Middle and Upper School parents are invited to attend an information session on Korean University Admissions that will be led by Dr. Hannah Yang. This session will cover a variety of factors in the admission decision including how Korean universities evaluate applicants from international schools like CI, the university application process, standardized test requirements, and how you can help your child to select appropriate Korean universities.
Date: Wednesday, February 17
Please be aware that this information session does not cover non-Korean citizens applying to Korean universities or Songdo Global Campuses in Korea (the admission process is quite different). If your child is a non-Korean citizen with non-Korean parents considering Korean universities, please contact Dr. Yang to set up an individual appointment.
If you have any further questions, please call us at 032-250-5229 or send an email to the College Counseling assistant, Ms. Mia Cho (mcho@chadwickschool.org).
Grade 10 Course Selection Meetings We are looking forward to meeting with every Grade 10 parent and student regarding course selections for the 2021-2022 school year. These individual meetings will occur from February 22 to April 2. Grade 10 parents will receive an email at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 8 with registration details and instructions for using Calendly. The instructions are very easy to follow and there are over 110 available meeting times between February 22 and April 2. Parents will click on the Calendly link provided and select a date and time that works best. Parents are encouraged to talk with your students about ideal days and times, but remember that students are excused from their classes in order to attend the meeting. All Grade 10 families are required to have a meeting (which includes at least one parent and the student). The registration site will be open for one week and then it will close at noon on Monday, February 15. All of the meetings will be conducted online with Zoom.

February is International Boost Self-Esteem Month! It is normal for self-esteem to go up and down depending on life events and fluctuations in mental health. These days, with depression and anxiety on the rise due to the pandemic, your (or your child's) self-esteem might be at an all-time low.
Low self-esteem can lead to depression or exacerbate it, but there are also ways to boost your self-esteem:
