Middle School News

A Middle School student conceptualized, prepared and held a two-week Anne Sullivan Fundraiser to raise proceeds for Perkins School for the Blind. The Perkins School for the Blind aims to “build a world where people with complex disabilities and visual impairments can learn and thrive.” Her inspiration behind this fundraiser was her first unit in Physical and Health Education, where students were tasked with designing games for diversely abled students. She found designing games for visually impaired students the hardest and came to learn that without sight, all other fine motor skills are harder to control. Despite not being chosen as the Middle School Student Council President, she wanted to show everyone and herself that no matter what leadership position you’re in, what club you belong to or what resources you have at your disposal, as long as you are enthusiastic about serving the community you are a part of, you can make a positive impact on the world.
