Alumni Panel

Chadwick alumni shared their candid advice on topics ranging from college applications to navigating social life on campus in a recent virtual panel for current students. Alumni from both Chadwick International and Chadwick School joined in from their campuses around the world to offer lessons learned as their horizons have expanded beyond high school.

“In the moment, it was stressful,” said one alumna of her high school years. “But when I look back on it now, it was such a fun time! Cherish it!” Several of the panelists readily agreed that it was easy to fall into the trap of letting the college admission process take over their high school career. They urged students to take advantage of opportunities to participate in athletics, clubs and activities, and to make the most of their social time with friends.

Reflecting on the college application process, one alumnus recalled not feeling like his experience or background was particularly unique. Looking back, his advice to students is to “genuinely be you.” He encouraged, “You have a story to tell, you might just need to figure out what it is.”

Once on campus, our alumni explained that mistakes might happen, majors might change, but there is time to regroup and restart. “Give yourself time and space to grow,” said another alumna. They assured students that there would be many opportunities for them to explore, experiment and learn about themselves. “It is a great time for self-discovery,” suggested a panelist. “Don’t be afraid to dive in.”

The panel was organized by the Office of Alumni Relations and the CI-CS Connection club. School leadership hosting the panel including Head of School Ted Hill, Director of College Counseling Trevor Rusert and Director of Alumni and International Relations Soleiman Dias reminded both alumni and current students that they are a part of the Chadwick family for life. Our community will always be here to support one another, recommend resources and make connections. We offer our sincerest thanks to our alumni panelists for taking the time to share their reflections and insights with our current students.
